P5 Visit to Linen Museum
P5 had a fantastic day of learning and discovery during their visit to the Lisburn Linen Museum. The children explored the fascinating journey of flax to linen, tracing its origins all the way back to Ancient Egyptian times. They examined intriguing relics and artefacts connected to Tutankhamun and learned about the famous “curse” linked to Howard Carter.
As part of their studies, pupils also delved into the rituals of ancient Egyptian mummification, discovering how organs were carefully removed and placed into special canopic jars. The day included two engaging workshops where the children decorated their own death masks and created canopic jars, bringing their learning to life in a creative way.
To round off a brilliant day, the class enjoyed some time outdoors at Wallace Park. It was truly a memorable experience, filled with fun, creativity, and hands-on learning 😁
