P5 - Literacy
Primary 5 have made a fantastic start to their Persuasive Writing topic this term. They have been exploring the purpose of advertising and identifying target audiences by watching and discussing a range of TV adverts, including those for Mars Bar, Iron Bru and Gloss and Shine Shampoo.
Working in pairs, the class then analysed a variety of print advertisements using the FREDEPTORS checklist of persuasive techniques, confidently presenting their ideas and findings to their classmates.
Building on this, each pupil designed their own advertisement for a brand-new cereal, applying persuasive language features such as alliteration, scientific health claims, special offers and even celebrity endorsements. They then presented their creations individually to the class, demonstrating excellent confidence and creativity.
It has been wonderful to see such a high level of enthusiasm, along with brilliant talking and listening skills, throughout these activities.
